Ex-Catholics, Mary Ann Collins March 2006
|
| People who have left the Catholic Church will often refer to themselves as an ex-Catholic or a recovering Catholic or a former Catholic. Recovering Catholics know that they are in the process of making a change, and they often recognize the pull of what I call “the Catholic Undertow.” If you are a recovering Catholic, please read my book “The Catholic Undertow.” I wrote it just for you. Here’s a link to it.
If you consider yourself to be a “fully recovered” ex-Catholic, please at least take a look at the book. I’ve corresponded with former Catholics who thought that they were completely free of Catholicism, but when they read the book they discovered some areas that they still needed to deal with. If you don’t have time to look at the book, then please at least read my article “For Former Catholics.” If you are an ex-priest, and ex-monk, or an ex-nun, “The Catholic Undertow” has an appendix that was written for you. Here’s a link to it. Whatever your situation, my Catholic Concerns website has many articles and some of them may be useful for you. May the Lord strengthen you, comfort you, and guide you as you complete your transition to a more Biblical church.
USE OF THIS ARTICLE I encourage you to link to this article. You have permission to quote from this article, as long as you do it fairly and accurately. You have permission to make copies of this article for friends and for use in classes.
