What is the depiction of Our Lady of Fatima prayer candle?
Our Lady of Fatima is depicted on this candle as she appeared to three Portuguese shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta, during the first world war. She is dressed in white with a long white mantle edged in gold, a rosary hanging from her praying hands. The halo of stars around her head identifies her as the Queen of Heaven. The two children kneel before her, worshipping and imploring her wisdom, while their sheep graze peacefully. The cloud on which Our Lady stands is the only sign that the faithful onlookers who followed the children to the site were given until Mary's final visit in October of the next year, when 70,000 pilgrims saw the sun tremble and shake, spinning like a wheel of multi-colored fire.
The small olive tree before Mary's feet reminds us of the peace that Mary promised if the children and those who heeded their message would pray the rosary daily for all who suffer and are lost in sin, receive the Holy Sacraments, and commit themselves to lives of sacrificial service to her Son for the sake of all who need his mercy.
Prayer on the Candle: O Most Holy Virgin Mary. Queen of the most holy Roary, you were pleased to appear to the children of Fatima and reveal a glorious message. We implore you, inspire in our hearts a fervent love for the recitation of the Rosary. By meditating on the mysteries of the redemption that are recalled therein may we obtain the graces and virtues that we ask, through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
